Peter Thiel on Apokálypsis and the Ghosts of Pre-Internet Past

"What Theil doesn’t mention, is the specter of state failure. What if the failures of the past few decades are not simply the result of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, an atheistic communist parasite class, or ‘bad governance’? What if the whispers are true, and the machinery of the Westphalian western state is failing? A UK politician recently observed that it doesn’t seem to matter who is in power: the state will fail regardless."

Like every anglo-judeo-conservative before him, Peter Thiel has decided to pen a piece – in the Financial Times, of all places – predictably calling for “reconciliation.” While calls for ‘Roman Justice’ would be both more satisfying, courageous and moral, there is money to be made and Theil is as ever, difficult to discount.

Like many others, he compares the ruling regime to France’s infamous pre-revolutionary class:

“Our ancien regime, like the aristocracy of pre-revolutionary France, thought the party would never end. 2016 shook their historicist faith in the arc of the moral universe but by 2020 they hoped to write Trump off as an aberration. In retrospect, 2020 was the aberration, the rearguard action of a struggling regime and its struldbrugg ruler. There will be no reactionary restoration of the pre-internet past.”

What Theil doesn’t mention, is the specter of state failure. What if the failures of the past few decades are not simply the result of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, an atheistic communist parasite class, or ‘bad governance’? What if the whispers are true, and the machinery of the Westphalian western state is failing? A UK politician recently observed that it doesn’t seem to matter who is in power: the state will fail regardless.

For Theil, the future ahead is not necessarily one of revolution, but one of “apokálypsis”, or unveiling. Grooming gangs in the UK. Epstein’s client list. One party rule in US Democratic States that prevent Voter ID, by law. In many ways this “apokálypsis” may well be more profound than a hard revolution ever could be. I wonder, will it also apply to Ukraine, or Gaza and Israel? Or will the unveiling be selective?

“DISC world,” the ‘Distributed Idea Suppression Complex’ propagated by NGOs, Academia, and government bureaucrats remains bruised but intact. The European Union may be bruised, but an army of digital ‘policy makers’ are standing by, to await new orders. It may be naive to believe that this unveiling can take place without a fight.

Imagine if instead of 1779, the United States had ‘reconciled’ with the ancien regime? Sometimes you have to go hard, Peter.
